Pete Brown - Updated Letter

It is with great sadness that I have to inform you of the death of Pete Brown last Sunday morning. Pete battled for many years with Parkinson ’s disease and after a stroke last Tuesday, he passed quietly away on Sunday 11th May. On behalf of the club, I would like to extend our heartfelt sympathy to Lizzie, Scott and Ashley at their great loss. Pete was our Head Professional for Tennis and Squash for more than 30 years and only retired recently when the effects of his illness prevented him from performing his duties in the manner that he felt was up to the standard that he had previously always maintained. There are many players at the club who owe their ability at racquets sports solely to the coaching of Pete Brown. Pete was a fully qualified LTA coach and coached the Welsh Tennis squad for many years. We will remember with affection Pete’s intensity and love of his training sessions, his co-ordination of the Xmas Eve celebrations which he carried out for many years and other voluntary work he carried out around the club at all times. There is also a memorial book in reception if any member would like to record their sympathy to his family. A service will be conducted on Thursday 29th May at 10:30am in St Michael’s Church, Tettenhall followed by a burial service at Danescourt Cemetery. The club will be hosting the wake celebrating Pete’s life from 12:15pm onwards and Pete’s family would like to extend an invite to all his friends at the club to both the service and the wake. Our sympathy again to Pete’s family. Yours Sincerely, Ron Stevenson Ron Stevenson Chairman
