, Lots to tell you about so I hope you have a moment to read my update. The Executive Committee are very pleased to be able to announce that we have recruited a new employee, Nikki Parkes. Nikki has worked for the Lawn Tennis Association for many years as their Regional Tennis Services Assistant. Nikki will be predominantly responsible for coordinating our external marketing and events and will be assisting Sophie with her internal marketing. She will also be helping the club expand its outreach programmes including our West Park Community project (more details to come soon) in addition to overseeing our reception team. Nikki has a particular passion for tennis but is equally enthusiastic about fitness in general including squash and racketball. As an ex world ranked tennis player Nikki brings with her a wealth of experience which will be well utilised at the club as she has played, coached and administered many areas of the sport. Wolverhampton Lawn Tennis & Squash Club is a new chapter in her life and I know she is very excited to get started and help the club to continue to improve. Nikki will be commencing on 6th June but if you’re at the Summer Party you’ll get a chance to welcome her and her husband Joe with our usual WLTSC enthusiasm. Squash & Racketball Our new Head of Squash and Racketball has made a great start at the club and is now organising a new programme of coaching with the help of Darren and James. There is a new Squash and Racketball daytime Mix In every Wednesday from 10:30am and this Sunday sees the start of a new Junior Squash Club session at 10:15am to 11:30am; it’s only £3 for members and you are very welcome to bring a friend for £5. There is a new WLTSC Squash & Racketball What’s App group, just call (07728 554555) or see Matt to be added to it so that you can keep up-to-date with all the new initiatives to help the club get more people playing more often. Tennis You can now enter this year’s Club Champs singles and doubles (inc mixed) by using your MyCourts account, just logon in the usual way and click on the Tournaments Tab. Fitness Last weekend’s Activity event was an immense success thanks to the organisation of our Energize team and the enthusiasm of our members and guests. I’d thoroughly recommend it but numbers are very limited. Next year’s event has been booked so if you’re available from 12th to 14th May 2017 contact one of our team as soon as possible. Social On behalf of the Tennis Committee I’m very pleased to announce that we have received 8 more pairs of tickets for Wimbledon including some for centre, No.1 and No.2 court. We will be holding a “mini” ballot in the bar area next Tuesday 17th May. Food is available from 7pm and the draw will commence at 8:30pm for those of you that weren’t successful in the last ballot and have opted-in as an LTA British Tennis Member. Bookings are being taken for this Sunday’s Roast Dinner which includes, main, dessert and coffee for only £12.50 for adults and £10 for under 18s if booked in advance. Lastly We have an opportunity for an experienced bar person or for someone that can learn quickly for up to 10 hours per week predominantly on a Friday evening and Sunday afternoon. We also still have a vacancy for a job share working with our late night security staff. Please give me a call on 01902 746464 if you are interested or if you can recommend someone. Keep healthy, play sport and make friends, Marc Hughes Operations Manager
