EGM Update

Many thanks to all those who attended the Extraordinary General Meeting on Monday, or who took part in the postal vote. In total we had nearly 200 people express an opinion on what is an extremely important decision for the club.

At the meeting there were presentations by myself and Marc concerning club governance and best practice, which for those of you who could not attend are attached hereto. During the presentations Marc and I answered questions from the floor. This provided for a lively and informative debate. Subsequent feedback has indicated that this was very much appreciated by the members present.

The outcome of the meeting is that the General Committee now has a mandate to investigate further the proposal of converting the club from an unincorporated organisation into a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).

We will carry out such steps that we consider necessary before holding any further meetings and we will issue documentation for comment as it becomes available.

I want to reassure you that no decision will be made on this proposal without approval from yourselves.

The General Committee has no hidden agenda on this matter, we are simply trying to do what we consider is best for the club.
