The England Squash masters is coming to Wolverhampton on Friday 21st until Sunday 23rd September and we think it would make a fantastic opportunity for you to see some very high level squash at your club.
The West of England Masters has attracted 181 entrants to this tournament with both men’s and ladies categories from over 35’s up to over 75 years for the men and from over 35’s to over 65yrs for the ladies (see draw - https://www.englandsquashmasters.co.uk/Events/EventDetailsv2.aspx?@EventID=92)
The men’s over 35’s category will feature Wolverhampton’s very own squash Coach Darren Lewis aiming to add another win in this category to his trophy cabinet. Darren has played in the last four Home Internationals for England and each year England has won! He will be competing against 4 other players who have caps for England in the Home Internationals in recent years so this will be a hotly contested category.
As a premier racket sports club, Wolverhampton is pleased that we have 20 members playing in the various categories with Chris Dawson Head of Squash and Racketball playing in the over 40’s category right up to club members playing in the over 70’s category proving squash is really a sport for all ages!
It is widely understood that playing squash has many benefits:
• Boosting Cardiovascular Health
• Improves hand eye coordination
• Develops agility
• Helps mental wellbeing
• And is a great social activity
It's going to be an absolutely inspirational weekend but parking will be a challenge as will space in the changing rooms. Thank you in advance for your patience.
The bar and restaurant is open all weekend so please come and make use of it whilst watching the matches and don't forget that some of the matches will be at Tettenhall College (Our squash partner) from 4pm on Friday
Thank you to Helen Tottey for encouraging Central News and the BBC to get involved and don't forget that many of the matches will be streamed via the web and on our screen in the bar.
