Neil Patel update

Hello [[firstname]]

I’ve now been managing the team for several weeks and thought I would summarise the last few weeks, what’s next and the support I need from you (the members).

Some of you know me and I like to ‘keep it simple’ therefore this is probably the longest update you will ever get from me, to manage your expectations.

There have been many unforeseen challenges which has meant that my time has had to be re-apportioned to ensure the club is fit for purpose in all aspects. This might sound a little vague however its very much behind the scene stuff.

In summary, it’s been a pleasure to meet and gain feedback from the members on how we can make the most of our club, as it is a member’s club! I also wish to thank the members for your support and encouragement.

I have taken the opportunity to have team meetings with each department and I am actively taking one to ones with each of my team, to ensure we develop talent and manage performance.

Bar & restaurant
I hope that all of you have realised that we re-opened the restaurant approx. 6 weeks ago. The restaurant has gone from strength to strength with your support. Thank you to all members from the catering team.

Sales have both exceeded my expectations and the targets I set. The appointment of Kelly as acting manager has been an integral part of its success with the whole team driving and working hard to enhance the members experience.

Key highlights of what we have done and shall continue to do:
• Driving down the cost price
• Negotiated discounts and opened new accounts with better terms
and prices
• Specials, quality of food and home cooked dishes gain the best
feedback, Maria's cottage pie and Kelly’s Red Thai chicken curry
• Advertising via various media has supported the offer
• Events (None scheduled for Feb initially), We have driven this as
this is what helps make our targets
What’s next:
• New Menu launch in the next few weeks ready for April
• Refocus our service to members

Help from you
• Support Motown club night event 18 April please all come and
enjoy the night
• Support the Wolves ticket raffle and buy a drink next week

House and Grounds
These are the unsung heroes; they fix everything and save the club a fortune.
Key highlights of what we have done and shall continue to do:
• Debbie, one of our team has just returned after 7 weeks off sick
o Team has pulled together and covered her role within their hours
at no additional cost
• Cleared fallen 30-foot tree on Tennis court
o Most companies would have made an insurance claim with an excess
and higher premium
• New maintenance log in reception for any issues
o Dave (Head of department) checks this daily to plan jobs and fix
what he can straight away, before calling contractors
What’s next:

• Recognise the team for their hard work
• Review the club development plan for in-house quick wins

Help from you
• They’re a shy bunch please say ‘Hi’ and feedback to the team,
recognise them for their efforts
• Maintenance issues log them at Reception (be as specific as
possible it helps us deal with it quickly)

Security
A challenging area that requires consistency, I have recently appointed Tom Watson as head of security to support the team.

Reception
From the AGM reports from last year the shop provided a service and made a profit of approx. £20 a week, therefore my key aim is raising the profit of this area.
Key highlights of what we have done and shall continue to do:
• Driving down the cost price
• Negotiated discounts and opened new accounts with better terms
and prices
• Reformat of reception space
• New wall! Watch this space
What’s Next
• Reflow of space within the reception
• Relaunch of shop
• New stock lines
• Nick Morris’s dedicated area for stringing
Help from you
• Visit our shop when we re-launch
• Enter our Easter raffle

AOB
We have introduced our new age category 25-30 as per the AGM. The offer is £9.60 per week (£499) two weeks ago and had a sign up in the first week of launch.

I have advertised (via first city -thanks to Chris Bywater) and rented one of the two empty offices driving income for the club
Agreed advertising with Kip Mcgrath, you will see the banners, again driving income for the club
