Squash and Racketball Update

Dear [[firstname]],

England greats Laura Massaro and Nick Matthew will go head-to-head in the world’s biggest team squash contest, set to launch on World Squash Day, as players from around the globe are invited to pick sides and do battle.
The England Squash initiative, supported by SquashLevels, has been created to re-engage all players, whatever their age or ability, to join in on some competitive action and support their club during the COVID-19 pandemic.
England’s finest players, including Commonwealth Games medallists, James Willstrop and Sarah-Jane Perry form part of the star-studded Team Laura vs Team Nick line-up which is set to launch on World Squash Day (10th October).
Whether playing full court as part of a squash bubble or playing sides, players will be able to record match scores on the Squash Levels website at https://www.squashlevels.com/home.php where you can choose to be part of Team Laura or Team Nick. The team with the most victories at the end of the month-long contest wins.
England Squash are encouraging all clubs and venues to use the contest as an opportunity to re-engage those players who haven’t stepped back on court. With prizes for the most active club/venue and county, England Squash will provide resources and downloads to support club activity.

Entries are now open for this year’s Dave Smart Handicap Racketball competition. It’s suitable for all abilities and the finals are on Friday 27th November. Although we are unlikely to be able to have spectators on finals day we will be streaming the matches in the bar and on our social media channels.

You can enter online using your MyCourts account and a handicap will be assigned to you so everyone has a chance to lift the trophy and join the likes of James Henderson and Steve Pearcey on the honours board. It’s great fun and a superb way to get fit and meet some new people at the club so tennis players, why not come out of the wind and rain and experience the energy of the racketball and squash courts?

If you’ve never played racketball before just let me know and I can introduce you to this easy to pick up fun sport. Steve Pearcey and I will also be organising a Ladies only, introduction to racketball from 2pm to 3:30pm on Thursday 22nd October bookable on MyCourts with more sessions to follow if well attended.

Kind regards,
Marc Hughes
