Thank you to Julian Duke of Julian Duke Agencies who generously sponsored the Championships

First City Squash Club Championships

We have an amazing 82 entries for the 2022 First City Squash Club Championships, the draws have now been published and are on MyCourts. Due to the number of events, we are having two Finals evenings, Friday 1st April and Saturday 2nd April. Look out for more details in the coming weeks.

Thank you to Chris Bywater (First City) for generously sponsoring the championships.

Darren Lewis

A huge congratulations to Darren Lewis, who recently won the British Over40’s Squash Championships and has also been selected to represent England in the O40’s Home Internationals in Galway, Ireland in May. I have a feeling there maybe a few people who may want to go over and support Darren and at the same time support the Irish brewery industry!

Junior Squash Camp

Last week we held another fun Half Term Junior Squash Camp, these camps are becoming more and more popular, this is partly down to the amazing team of coaches who make the Junior Squash programme so enjoyable. I’d also like thank everyone who took part and to the parents who are supporting the junior squash programme. The team can’t wait for our Easter Camp and especially the Easter Egg Hunt!

RAF

This week we have welcomed back the RAF for there Inter Station Coaching Sessions and Competition. The RAF have become a wonderful addition to our club, and we look forward to continuing our links with them in the future.

Squash & Racketball Awards Night

On Saturday 25th March we will holding our Squash & Racketball Awards Night, we really want as many of our members to join us on what will be a great evening to celebrate our amazing club. See attachment for our nominees. Tickets are £10.00, which includes dinner and dessert are available now at the reception or through Mike Harris.

Finally, I want to introduce you to a Hashtag that you may begin to see on our social media posts over the coming months #wltscS&Rthrivingnotjustsurviving

The game of Squash has lost its way over the last 20 years and the numbers of players has reduced but with my role as Head of Squash & Racketball and as Head of Squash United, I want to do my bit to try and change the narrative. I’m so happy that there is feel good atmosphere within the Squash & Racketball department and I want that to continue, so now it’s time for people to start saying that squash & racketball at WLTSC is beginning to show signs of thriving and not just surviving.

Have a great weekend

Kindest Regards

Mike Harris

Head of Squash & Racketball
