Squash and Racketball Newsletter (10th Feb)

Good morning

Hopefully you’re all safe and well after Storm Ciara past through.

The new Round is now live and all matches are to be played by 22nd March

I would like to congratulate everyone who took part in the revised Racketball (Squash 57) league last round. There were 55 entrants with 30 completing all of their matches to receive bonus league points, Adam Hollinshead was the first to complete all his games, playing all 6 of his opponents in league 8 by 22nd January.

There has been more interest in the league and as such an additional division has been needed, making the new league 9 Divisions, with 64 players in total. I have tried to promote those that won their relevant divisions in the first round as best as possible but with slotting in the 9 new participants at a competitive level some of you may be in the same Division or moved down, but there should be new additions to test out your skills on! Hopefully this should be the last round for any minor alterations everybody should be promoted/relegated accordingly from now on 2 up and 2 down each round.

League Round Ups

Squash

First round of 2020 and Division 1 Winner was Nigel Grinsell getting in all of his matches and getting the 3 bonus points taking him to 25 points. Jason Smith coming in a close second (20 pts no bonus) missing out on a game against Manny Virdee to get those vital extra points.

Division 2
Lots of tough matches in Division 2 with the overall winner being Peter Langston who managed to get all of his matches in, followed by young Leon Smith who gains promotion for the second round running and beating the Div 2 winner 3-0, Well Done Leon!

Division 3

Mr Chairman Neil Patel was the only bonus point grabber in his division, playing all 6 of his matches and pushing Malkit Sal into 2nd position who only managed 4 of his games such was his hectic Racketball schedule!!

Divison 4

Cornelius Oyibojoba won all available matches to win the division, followed by Rie Huddart/Brentall who both move up a Division.

Division 5 has ben folded due to no matches being played in the last three rounds.

Racketball (Sqaush 57)

With the round being slightly interrupted by new additions this will be brief.

Overall winner of the Premier league was Robin Chipperfield who took maximum points beating Guy Birkett 3-2, Guy also dropped points against returning Clive Vickers but managed to cling onto second spot.

An injury to Tim Edwards left the door wide open in Division 1, Paul Hodgetts looked to be taking the division on 19 points but a last minute game between Steve Pearcey and David Smith meant Steve went through as overall winner finishing level with Paul on 19 pts but gaining the 3 bonus points for playing all matches, David finished behind Paul on 18 pts but also gained 3 bonus pts to see him take the second promotion slot. The first time the Bonus has been used to take a promotion well done David.

Congratulations to all again who played their full round, Premier Division, Division 4, and Division 5 all completed their rounds, let’s try and get a complete round for all divisions this time.

Good luck everyone.
