An Update from the Tennis Committee

Dear [[firstname]]

You may have read (or heard) of various reports about the easing of restrictions. Until we hear definitive information from the UK Government all current restrictions remain in place and the Club remains closed.

As your Tennis Committee we have been considering a number of options as to what a phased relaxing may look like and we have been taking thoughts and opinions from you our members in order develop those plans.

We are holding another Zoom Committee Meeting on Monday 11th by which time we may have had more instruction from the Government.

In the meantime we are following LTA information closely, which is regularly updated on their website, an extract of which is below.

Resumption of Tennis Activity

We know how important it is to keep people active, and the particular role tennis can have in the physical and mental wellbeing of those that play it. Our aim is therefore for tennis activity to return as soon as is possible in a way that is both safe and appropriate based on Government advice.

We remain in regular, direct dialogue with the Government to ensure the guidance we are providing to those involved in tennis is the right advice at that time. At the appropriate time, we will be providing via this page a set of clear advice and guidance to tennis venues, coaches and players around the resumption of tennis activity in Britain, how this can be done and any precautions that need to be taken – in a similar way to how guidance was provided going into lockdown.

Whilst we understand that tennis venues, coaches and players are keen to prepare for the resumption of tennis activity, we will share the guidance that we are discussing with Government once they have published how the phased lifting of current restrictions will take place. This will provide a single, clear set of guidelines for everyone involved with tennis in Britain to ensure safe activity in line with the wider Government advice.

In the meantime, please exercise safely and enjoy the sunshine

With Regards

Steve Chilvers
