Squash & Racketball - Monthly Update

Dear [[firstname]]

Monday 1st September was the official start of the squash season, and we have an exciting year ahead, starting with some new classes on our New Adult Class Timetable

At the bottom of this email is a flyer of our 2025 / 26 class timetable, we’ve added a few new classes including

Monday 12.15pm – 1.15pm - Lunchtime Racketball Skills & Drills (This class is open to all abilities)

Monday 6.00pm – 6.45pm – Court Fit (General Fitness Class, ideal for Squash, Racketball & all racket sports including Padel)

Monday 7.00pm – 8.00pm - Beginners Squash (Great introduction to the game of squash)

Wednesday - 7.00pm – 8.00pm - Beginners Racketball (Great introduction to the game of Racketball)

Thursdays 6.00pm – 7.00pm Improvers Racketball & 7.00pm – 8.00pm Improver Squash (This a great session for those wishing to take their game to the next level)

Wednesday & Friday 12.15 – 1.15pm Lunchtime Squash Skills & Drills (This class is open to all abilities)

Even if you have been a member for years but have not had a session on the squash courts, the 1st session is FREE, so why not message Mike Harris on 07826 316065 and give it a go, what have you got to lose!

You don't need any equipment, we have rackets and balls, all we ask is that you have clean indoor shoes.

Racketball Handicap Tournament

This is our 1st major club S&R event of the season, so don’t forget to enter, the closing date is this Sunday 7th September

To enter, sign up via My Courts (Tournament Section)
The event starts – Tuesday 9th September
The Finals Night – Friday 24th October

This is a wonderful event to enter, as the points handicap gives any player, of any ability the opportunity to compete and have a chance of beating the best players and potentially win the tournament.

Maintenance and 2 Day Court Closure

We would like to thank all our members for your patience’s and understanding, whilst we are upgrading the Squash & Racketball area. There is still a bit more to do, including on Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd September, when the courts will be shut down, whilst the courts are sanded and the lines repainted.

This will mean, there will be no classes on Monday evening or Tuesdays Racketball Mix In.

There will also be some work taking place on the morning of Wednesday 24th September on the heaters above the courts but this should disrupt the courts too much.

Once the courts are reopened on the Wednesday 24th September there will be a few weeks where the courts maybe a little slippery, but we are putting into place an extensive cleaning rota that should alleviate this.

Junior Weekly Schedule

Our weekly junior programme started this week, and like the adult programme any junior who has not tried squash, can come along to give the 1st session a try for FREE.

Our junior sessions are

Wednesday 5.00pm – 5.45pm Little Belters (ideal for beginners aged 5 – 11year old)

Wednesday 6.00pm – 7.00pm Junior Squash (ideal for improvers aged 8 years and above)

Saturday 9.00am – 10.00am – Mini’s and Little Belters (ideal for beginners 4 – 11 years old)

Saturday 10.00am – 11.00am - Junior Squash (ideal for improvers aged 8 years and above)

RAF

You might not know this, but WLTSC is actually the home of RAF Squash—and we’re really proud of that. It’s always a pleasure to host squash matches and other events here for one of our armed services, and we have 2 events coming up.

On 30th September – 2nd October we will be hosting the RAF Inter-Station Cup (32 players) and on 9th – 10th October we will be welcoming the Army, Navy and RAF for the Combined Services Individual Squash Championships (60+ players).

We once again look forward to welcoming them all to the club.

Finally…….We’re thrilled to welcome Leon Smith as our new Assistant Squash & Racketball Coach!

At just 21, Leon has grown up here at WLTSC and is already making his mark—he won his first WLTSC Squash Club Championship in March 2025. Over the past few years, he’s been coaching part-time, and now he’s stepping into a bigger role alongside Mike Harris, our Head Coach of Squash & Racketball. Together, they’ll be driving forward our ever-growing Squash & Racketball programme.

We have a wonderful season ahead and can’t wait to welcome you down to the new and improved courts.

Have a great weekend.

Kindest Regards

Mike Harris
