Tennis Update

Dear [[firstname]],

This evening we have held a joint Tennis and Exec meeting to review the way forward in light of yesterdays announced guideline changes from the LTA.

We have been impressed with the way members have followed our guidelines to date and we are happy to incorporate changes to open up more opportunities to play.

The significant changes which come into effect tomorrow are:-

1. Doubles play with players from 4 households is now available
2. It is not necessary to use two sets of balls

However, 2 metre social distancing, hand sanitizing and avoidance of hand to face contact continue to be absolute priorities.

To accommodate a possible increase in demand we are adding Artificial Grass Court 4 with effect from tomorrow. The start times are the same as Court 5 and access is via the grass courts.

All Artificial Grass Courts will open from play earlier in the morning

We have also put Artificial Clay Courts on the MyCourts booking system and these will be available for booking by members from Thursday this week within a 48 hour window after 5pm Monday to Saturday and all day Sunday.

We will also be adding Court 6 - Real Grass. This will be on the 7 day booking rule as the Artificial Grass Courts and will be available for play from Monday 8th June. Please note that early start times are not recommended as the Court may be closed for safety and/or maintenance reasons.

We will be increasing the number of advanced allowable bookings per member in the succeeding 7 days period on Courts 1 to 6 to 3 x 1-hour sessions, plus an additional 1 hr booking on the day or a 1 hr booking on the Clay.

We will reduce the number of touchtennis courts to 4 but continue to promote the sport for non-tennis players.

I have attached the latest copy of our Covid-19 Guidance notes. Please read it to understand the changes.

And whilst some things change our commitment to your safety does not.

You do not have to play doubles, you do not have to use a single set of balls. That is your choice. Your safety whilst at the Club is also in your hands, please exercise it with responsibility and alertness.

Play Safe

Chair of the Tennis Committee
