SEND and Junior Development Update

Dear [[firstname]],

You may recall that our amazing fundraiser last year amassed over £5,000 of donations to top up our John Vaughan Development Fund. This fund is used to support our community programme of Special Educational Needs, Disability and Junior Development.

The funds have enabled the club to open its doors to a range of adults and juniors who wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to experience the sports and coaching activities at the club.

Every Wednesday and Friday we deliver sports activities to children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs from Woodbury School.

Also on a Wednesday we deliver balance and coordination exercises to young people with autism from Tettenhall Wood School.

Each Thursday morning you may have seen some adults with learning difficulties having fun on our racketball courts. Also, I know many of you have been impressed by Carl who has been receiving coaching from me each week. Carl is visually impaired and arrived at the club twenty weeks ago in a wheelchair. His determination and wonderful attitude has enabled him to walk with the aid of a walking stick and rally over a tennis net and rally within the racketball court. If you would like to see Carl’s progress just visit our You Tube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCe_hTX-8fH0RIMjxchXVUGA

Recently the Board have unanimously agreed to create a “Restricted Mobility” membership for people like Carl and I’m very pleased to say he has now joined us and you may see him in the gym and on the courts with his carer or a coach.

This year’s fundraiser will be on 29th June where we hope to replicate another great day of fundraising and inspirational activities for members and visitors. Sally Dawes is coordinating a plant sale and would like to remind those keen gardeners amongst you with spare plants to get in touch with her.

None of this is possible without the support of our generous and supportive club members, coaches, volunteers and committees, thank you so much. If you would like to contribute to this year’s fundraiser, please get in touch with me.

Kind regards,

Marc Hughes
