We’ve had a wonderful start to 2022, new classes, many members coming back to sessions and quite a few new ones giving it a try! Please see attached our timetable and come and give one of our sessions a go.

The JDA Racketball Club Championships

The JDA Racketball Club Championships has started, and we’ve already seen some fantastic 1st round matches. Quarter Final matches need to be completed by Tuesday 8th February, if anyone is interested, I’m playing Andrew Hepworth on Wednesday 2nd February at 4.45pm.

Date for your diary, come down to support the finalist and watch some amazing racketball on Finals Night on Saturday 26th February. Finals begin at 5.30pm

MyCourts Touch Screen

I’m pleased to announce that the new MyCourts touch screen has been installed in the Squash & Racketball area, which will make it easier to check courts and sign in.

Events happening next week

National Schools Coach Education Course - Sunday 30th January 10.00am – 4.00pm (Courts 1, 2, 3 & 6)

RAF Squash Championships Tuesday 1st February – Friday 4th February 9.00am – 4.30pm (Courts 1, 2, 3 & 6)

WLTSC v POLICE (Men’s, Women’s, and Men’s Masters Squash Match) Friday 4th February - 6.30pm – 9.00pm (All Courts) & Saturday 5th February - 10.00am – 12.30pm (All Courts)

Please Note - Due to the matches against the Police there will be No Squash Mix In – Friday 4th Feb & No Racketball Mix In on Saturday 6th Feb.

Junior Squash Camp

Save The Date

Squash & Racketball Awards Night - Saturday 26th March. It's been a 3 years since we held our last Awards Night and I can't celebrate our brilliant members at WLTSC. Look out for more details in the coming few weeks

Finally

Last week I was offered and I have accepted a new role as Head of Squash United by Birmingham 2022 (I’m not leaving WLTSC – This is an extra job for the next 7months in the build up to Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games) I will be managing the Squash United programme and delivering all the aims and objectives on behalf of all the major squash stakeholders, England Squash, World Squash Federation, Professional Squash Association, PSA Foundation and Rackets Cubed.

Including

  1. To give 50,000 young people a games experience using the Mini Squash Court on the Birmingham 2022 Community Engagement Roadshows
  2. Launch Mini Squash Courts for schools across the West Midlands,
  3. National Schools Squash Programme
  4. Build Outdoor Squash Courts in communities
  5. To set up The Festival of Squash

It's an exciting time for Squash & Racketball at WLTSC and the West Midlands and as we say at Squash United,"Together we're creating a national/global squash pulse with a West Midlands heart.
