Dear [[firstname]],
I am delighted to announce that we have appointed Mike Harris as our new full time Head of Squash & Racketball. Mike will take up the position on 2nd August 2021 and brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise in both sports. I am confident that he will make a significant contribution to the future development of Squash and Racketball at the club.
Kind Regards
John
By way of introduction Mike has prepared the following few words:
Dear Members
My name is Mike Harris and I'm delighted to have accepted the role as WLTSC Head of Squash and Racketball.
I begin at the start of August, and during the month I'll be organising a number of meet and greet evenings where I will introduce my vision to develop WLTSC into the best Squash and Racketball club in the West Midlands. I'm also keen to listen and hear your ideas as to how we can make this happen.
Who am I?
The first thing you'll notice about me is that my right eye is closed, it looks like I've been hit by a squash ball, but actually I had a stroke 25 years ago and I'm blind in this eye. Please don't let that put you off, I'm the best one eyed squash and Racketball player in the world. I've played No.1 for England O45s and I have been the O45 National Racketball champion. I'm now 50 and hope to win a few more titles and represent England again.
I've been a qualified coach for over 33 years and a Level 4 Elite High Performance Coach for 24 years. I'm a former England High Performance Coach and National Coach of Finland, England Squash and European Squash Federation Coach Tutor and Assessor.
I've also worked in Brighton, Italy, Monaco, Saudi Arabia and most recently as Head of Performance and Community at Edgbaston Priory Club.
I also coach a few hours a week for Squash Wales and I'm heavily involved with Commonwealth Games Birmingham 2022 Legacy Programme, which includes, Community Engagement Roadshows, introducing Outdoor Squash Courts across our region, Sustainable Schools Programmes and West Midlands Festival of Squash.
What is really important to know, is that my coaching skills encompass toddlers through to octogenarians of all levels, so whatever your age and ability, I have something to offer you.
I'm married to Vicky, who's not just an amazing woman, she is also my coach and mentor! I look forward to you all getting to know her.
I’m really excited about this new role and look forward to becoming part of the furniture.
Regards
Mike Harris
