Sports Update

Dear [[firstname]],

I hope you’ve been inspired by Wimbledon and the extraordinary number of events recently at the club and a very warm, literally, welcome, to our many new members.

This Sunday we have our Walk For Fun and today is the last day to let Foggy know if you are attending.

Following on from our fundraising day I’m very pleased to let you know that we have created a partnership with a local charity called Eye Can. Eye Can was launched 2 years ago to support people with sight loss who felt isolated as a result of the Covid pandemic lockdown. The organisation which aims to promote independence and inclusivity has since acquired charity status and trustees include ex-Spurs manager Keith Burkinshaw and ex-Albion player Youssouf Mulumbu.

Starting next Thursday afternoon, we will be expanding our disability programme by delivering tennis to a small group of people with varying degrees of sight loss; if you can spare any time and would like to help me and our wonderful club volunteers please get in touch.

Here are some key tennis dates for your diary:
Mixed 100+ Finals - 12th August 2022
Franco International Vets Tennis Champs Finals - 24th September 2022 (Commence August)
Tennis End of Season Awards Night - 1st October 2022
AL Aesthetics Tennis Club Champs 23rd & 24th June 2023

We are putting together a summer programme of tennis for you including Beginners sessions, Mix Ins, Rusty Rackets and the return of Cardio Tennis, more information will be out soon.

Thank you to Max for running our Path to Wimbledon regional competition and well done to all the players especially Damilola and Toby who have made it through to the national finals at Wimbledon in August.

Thank you also to Steve Chilvers for taking over our Wimbledon Whites event last Sunday whilst I self-isolated with the dreaded Covid and well done to the 32 players that attended and stayed to watch the Men’s final under the marquee, a top day by all accounts.

Our Tennis and Squash Holiday camps are filling up nicely and can be booked at this link https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/everypoint/Coaching/Camps?id=d00c3e4e-9751-4e2c-87c8-a5e95022af94 as next week is the last of our termly squads before the holidays.

We have lots of team tennis matches this week so if you’re at the club why not pop to the bar to keep hydrated and come down to the courts to support our players.

Kind regards,

Marc Hughes
