Tennis Update

Dear [[firstname]],

Yesterday saw us deliver the first event since the lockdown and I’m pleased to say that it went really well with 40 players on court for most of the afternoon and a handful of spectators. Everyone was very considerate and respected the club’s social distancing rules in most part.

Thank you to everyone involved especially our bar and catering team and our captains and donators, Manny Samra, Jason Mansell, Tracy Hook and Alan Durban.

We quickly move on to the next event which is our annual Club Tennis Champs sponsored by Howard Wright. We have had an unprecedented level of interest with 216 entries to the various tournaments. The draws are live on MyCourts and we encourage you all to play your first round matches this week to enable us to launch the Plate events.

In order to ensure that all matches can be played the B and C draws will be Fast4 matches, with the A draws being normal sets with a championship tie break to decide at 1 set all. We are looking to break court 1-5 bookings into half hour slots, but if we can't it may be necessary to book a double session to get your match completed.

By the time we reach Semi-Final stages we will most likely adopt normal scoring for all tournaments.

Just to clarify the booking rules remain as a limit of 3 hourly sessions in the week (applies to courts 1 to 5 only), plus unlimited bookings on the Clay (9-11) or Grass (6)

Finals are on 21st and 22nd August where we hope for another sunny sociable day of tennis at the club.

It's great to get back to competitive tennis.

Enjoy your matches, play to win, play for fun

Steve Chilvers
