A PADEL UPDATE

Hi [[firstname]]

I wanted to give you an update on the progress of the Padel Project.

As you will recall that we decided to reconfigure the layout of the courts. That necessitated an amendment to the planning application which then has had to go through due process with our local planning authority.

In addition, they requested that we conduct a new simulated noise assessment which will be the basis of comparison once the courts are built and a full noise assessment completed.

I am pleased to report that the results of the reconfiguration indicate a reduction in the level of noise below that which has already been accepted by our planning authority. By law, our planning authority are required to inform our neighbours and that is underway.

At the time initial planning permission was granted there were attached to it some conditions that had to be met and answered by our contractors. Typically, they were related to a satisfactory method statement, drainage details, ground level details, materials being used and lighting of the courts.

Those conditions are being addressed by our contractors directly with our planning authority who are currently reviewing the information provided.

It has not helped that our planning officer has been on holiday for 2 weeks so that has added slightly to the delay, and greatly to my frustration.

Nevertheless, we are on the home straight and I am hopeful that we will see work commence soon after 19th May. The build programme will take approximately 8 weeks.

In other Padel related areas we have finalised all electrical details and this morning had a very constructive online meeting with MyCourts, defining the court booking processes for both members and Pay & Play Padel visitors, including an option to hire Padel bats and balls.

We are well advanced in finalising our door access controls which now leaves us to focus on marketing, coaching, and planning how best we can satisfy demand for Padel from all levels of player.in Wolverhampton and surrounding areas.

Expect another update soon!

In the meantime, enjoy all the other great facilities and sporting opportunities that we have at WLTSC.

Regards

Steve Chilvers

Director and Club Chairperson
