Dear [[firstname]]
We sadly inform you of the passing of an old member of the club, Carl Williams who was previously a member for approximately 50 years. Only the last few years retired from the club. Hence, there may be a few members who would like to remember his prowess on the Squash & Tennis courts. In a separate email I’ll forward funeral details for reference, for those members who would like to attend. No flowers please any donations to Alzheimer Research, hopefully link works on funeral details.
Carl passed away at the grand age of 90 years old after a decline from losing his beloved wife Verity in December 2025. Still playing Tennis well into his eighties after many years squash being his main active sport. Playing at least twice a week early evenings on his way home from work, when not travelling the world in his role of international sales for Avery Scales. The areas of the world he covered also gave him the opportunity of playing squash in many different countries, even in the Middle East where to keep courts cool he had to use a ladder to climb in and out of the sunken court, no mean feat to have to climb out after a tough game.
In the later years of membership he transferred his squash skills to the tennis courts, where he continued his friendly competitive edge thoroughly enjoying the welcoming social atmosphere of WLTSC.
The funeral will take place on Tuesday 18th August at 1.00pm at St. Michaels & All Angels Church , Church Road, Tettenhall, followed by a committal at 2.00pm at Danescourt Cemetery.
There will then be a reception at WLTSC from 2.30pm to celebrate Carls life and his happy times at the Club.
