News From The Tennis Courts

“Team Tennis” continues to be busy with good attendance throughout the Adult and Junior Programmes. Before we get into what’s happening, we have one change for you….. the Coaches Cup will now be held on Saturday 4th May, more details will follow soon.

There’s a lot going on so please read to the end!

Coming up in the adult programme we have …..

New Improvers Class

Wednesday evening rusty rackets has been replaced with a new improvers group. This is to open up the session to more members. This group is perfect if you have progressed from adult beginners, all the way up to team standard players. It’s the perfect drills sessions to improve your game and get some practice on those outdoor courts. This session is free to members and runs 7-8pm. You can sign up for this session on mycourts.

New Singles Class

After the Easter holidays we will be looking to run a new singles session every other week on a Saturday 12-1. This session will be aimed at those players who enjoy playing singles and want to improve their singles game. Perfect for those players competing in our internal singles leagues. Daytime Mix In

Our new popular daytime mix in will continue to run on an ad hoc basis. Our next session is Friday 22nd March and you can sign up on mycourts.

Wheelchair Tennis

We now run a weekly wheelchair tennis group on Tuesdays 2-3pm. If anyone would like anymore information on this group then please contact Amber Fellows.

Staffordshire League

All our teams are now entered in the Staffordshire League for the coming season. We have made some changes to our teams, including entering an additional ladies team this year. More details on team fixtures will be coming soon.

Internal Leagues

Our internal leagues continue in singles and doubles, if you aren’t involved and you want to be please contact Mike James. Can we also ask that if you are injured or can’t play for any reason you let Mike know. Anyone not playing matches for 2 consecutive rounds will be removed. Remember if you play and win all of your matches on time you will get a £5 member card credit.

Easter Tennis Holiday Camps

During the second week of the Easter school holidays, we will be running tennis camps from the 2nd to the 4th of April. The camps are available to both members and non-members, with discounts available. Tennis Programme - Summer Term (April-July)

After another successful term of tennis, the next term is now open for enrolment. Our program is currently very busy, with around 170 juniors participating weekly.

Girls Compete

A new group will be starting after Easter to bring together our girls who play yellow ball and compete or want to start competing for the club or individually. This group will be run by some of our more senior girls to provide a good hitting session and competition tips and confidence. Places will be limited, if you or your daughter is interested then please contact Liz (Elizabeth Collinswood).

Wolverhampton Open 2024

We are hosting the Wolverhampton Open 2024 at the club from the 24th to the 30th of March. With over 250 entries into the tournament, we anticipate a fantastic week of tennis!

Many juniors will be representing the club in the competition, and we hope you will be able to come down and support them!
