Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

Hello [[firstname]]

I thought it prudent to continue to update you on the coronavirus and I have detailed some notes and advice. To help minimise the spread of any bacteria/virus especially with regard to the Covid19 virus please can all members take extra precautions .Alcohol gel is available specific dispensers are in the gym, outside the studio and in the pit the best form of prevention is hand washing. I have also introduced additional cleaning to be done by our own cleaning team focusing on areas that are ‘touched’ regularly e.g. light switches.

We do also have the RAF here for the next 3 days, they have all assured us they have not travelled to any of the countries listed.

If you feel unwell, please consider self-isolation prior to visiting the club. I have ordered additional alcohol gel and dispensers however unfortunately there is a supply issue countrywide, as soon as they arrive, they will be installed.

What is Coronavirus?

A Coronavirus is a type of virus. As a group, coronaviruses are common across the world. Typical symptoms of coronavirus include fever and a cough that may progress to a severe pneumonia causing shortness of breath and breathing difficulties.

Generally, Coronavirus can cause more severe symptoms in people with weakened immune systems, older people, and those with long-term conditions like diabetes, cancer and chronic lung disease.

The current novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, which began in December 2019, presents a significant challenge for the entire world.

The impact is upon the UK government and the devolved administrations, including the health and social care systems and the public in general.

Foggys advice

· Separate to this outbreak I have received feedback on gym cleaning, I have a plan and I’ve put it into action.

· Wash your hands in hot soapy water before you train(please turn off taps when finished, these have been left on and is draining the club supply)

· Wipe machine before you use it with cleaning fluid and blue tissue in case the previous person hasn’t

· Repeat after use

· Don’t touch your face

· Wash your hands with hot soapy water after you train

Cleaning guidelines

Disinfection

Regular basic hygiene such as cleaning and disinfection of all areas of the club including “Multi touch areas” and daily equipment/materials used such as uniforms and equipment.

Multi-Touch Areas

Door handles – including external doors
Light Switches
Electrical Equipment i.e.: kettle / microwave / card machine
Computer keyboards
Computer mice
Telephones
Chair backs
Desks
Customer information / leaflets
Fridge handles

This is not an exhaustive list

Client literature and magazine in waiting areas to be reduced or removed

High Footfall areas

Reception & seating areas
Consult rooms
Public toilet

High footfall areas need to be cleaned 3 times a day where feasible and possible, or after a suspected cause of concern.

The role the public can play in supporting this response

· Everyone can help support the UK’s response by:

· following public health authorities’ advice, for example on hand washing

· reducing the impact and spread of misinformation by relying on information from trusted sources, such as that on www.nhs.uk, www.nhsinform.scot, www.publichealth.hscni.net, https://gov.wales/coronavirus-covid-19 and www.gov.uk

· checking and following the latest FCO travel advice when travelling and planning to travel

· ensuring you and your family’s vaccinations are up to date as this will help reduce the pressure on the NHS/HSCNI through reducing vaccine-preventable diseases

· checking on elderly or vulnerable family, friends and neighbours

· using NHS 111 (or NHS 24 in Scotland or NHS Direct Wales) (including online, where possible), pharmacies and GPs responsibly, and go to the hospital only when you really need to. This is further explained on the NHS website: When to go to A&E and Choose Well Wales

· being understanding of the pressures the health and social care systems may be under, and receptive to changes that may be needed to the provision of care to you and your family.

· accepting that the advice for managing COVID-19 for most people will be self-isolation at home and simple over-the-counter medicines

· checking for new advice as the situation changes
