New Squash and Racketball Leagues

The new Squash and racketball leagues are now up and running. There are two new additions to the ever expanding Racketball Leagues, welcome to Mark Benfield and Oscar Searle.

You may notice that the leagues have been extended until the 29th December due to the Carver Cup running and the Christmas break. This gives you all 8 weeks to play your matches, barring any injured players we should see maximum scores posted across the board!!

Squash round up:-

Congratulations to Nigel Grinsell for taking the 1st division with a clean sweep after gaining promotion back to the top table.

Likewise, the returning legend Jason Smith smashed his way to a 5 out of 5 Div 2 win with Peter Roberts gaining 2nd place promotion

Andy Jones saw off the largest opposition with a great 6 out of 6 victories, with league newcomer James Lane taking 2nd place to try his hand in League 2 next round.

Paul Williams and Shashank Agarwal move up to Division 3 and a great first effort from other league newbies Kam Samra, Becky Smedley and Ben Williams.

Squash 57 (Racketball) round up:-

Guy Birkett steps aside this month to allow David Smith to keep his champions crown warm for a few weeks with David getting in that extra game to secure that additional point needed to take the title.

Div 2 champ Marc Hughes had 5 out of 5 wins with a close 3-2 against runner up Mark Smith.

Div 3 winner Steve Pearcey and runner up Malkit Sall move up to challenge in Div 2

Div 4 saw a better turn out this round with Mike James finishing victorious and Neil Foxall joining him 2 points behind.

Racketball News

At the end of this round there will be an overhaul of the Racketball league. A few players have had long term injuries, members have left, new members have entered and a number of entries haven’t played any matches for the last 4 rounds. There are to be a number of additional players entering for the new year and it seems fair to take a look at the leagues and position all players again in competitive clusters, this will hopefully get all league divisions active. If you would like to stay in the league please make sure to play some games this next round or if currently injured and unable to play in the next 8 weeks let me know by the 29th December.

Good luck to everyone playing their matches this time round.

Hope to see you on court!

Pete Roberts
League Coordinator
