Chairman's Club Update

Dear [[firstname]] ,

I trust that both you and your family are well and keeping safe during this difficult time.

It is now just over two weeks since, following government guidelines, we took the decision to completely close the club until further notice. Hopefully, in the next few weeks the government will be in a position to relax the rules on self-isolating and social distancing. We may then be able to re-open the club- even if it is only to provide limited access and facilities. As soon as we are given the go ahead we will re-open the club and advise you what is available.

During the last two weeks we have carried out a number of measures to secure the financial position of the club. These measures include:

  • Furloughing all employees apart from Ros and Claire in the administration department. They are required to produce our half year accounts and deal with all the other daily club matters. All employees are being paid 100% of their normal pay and we will be able to reclaim 80% of this back from the government under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.
  • Suspending or minimising all services and energy costs without compromising the security of the club.
  • Taking advantage of a rates holiday for the fiscal year 2020/21.
  • Applying for a grant of £25,000 from the local authority under the governments Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Fund.
  • Supporting the Energise team by subsidising the provision of online exercises. These have proved to be a tremendous hit and have been brilliantly delivered.

We continue to monitor our finances on a daily basis.

To all those members who continue to pay their monthly instalments I send my heartfelt thanks. By doing so, you are helping to sustain the club at a time when it needs your support more than ever. We appreciate that these are difficult times and that people are having to make difficult choices. That is why your loyalty now will be recognised in the future as we have already stated. The intention is that, once this is all over, we will extend the renewal date, for those members paying in full and for those members paying by standing order, by the period that the club has been closed.

We will come through this and when we do we will have a celebratory party to relaunch the club. Our great strengths as a club are the spirit, friendship and togetherness that exists amongst the WLTSC community. Long may it continue.

Please keep safe and in touch with your friends at WLTSC we all need each other. Should you need any help, please contact Neil who will be able to arrange assistance.
