2024 NOVAFLO RACKETBALL CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS FINALS

Aleks Stojanovic won his first major club championship trophy winning the 2024 Novaflo Racketball Club Championships.

Aleks defeated Jason Smith 3-1 in a really tough final, with many hard rallies, one lasting 68 shots. Though Jason put up and excellent battle, Aleks was just a bit too strong for him.

In the B Final, Michael Davis beat Curtis Goodman 3-0. This match was eagerly anticipated, with 2 strong players, but on the day Michael seemed to have the discipline and control.

The C Final was won by Raj Sohi who beat Chris Quick 3-1 in an excellent match. Both players moved each other around the court but Raj had a bit more in the locker.

The D Final was won by James Birch, who beat our sponsor Manjot Singh, 3-0. From the start James was on top, playing a controlled game, moving his opponent around the court, forcing errors out of Manny.

In the Plate events,
James Henderson beat Neil Patel 3-0 in entertaining A Plate Final.
Manny Virdee defeated Inder Jain 3-1 in the B Plate Final.
Daniel Richards beat Darren McHugh 3-1
and finally Helen Tottey beat Tom Dews in an excellent D Plate Final.

The tournament and the finals night was a huge success, thank you to everyone who entered, to all that came down to watch and support all the finalists, and of course to our fabulous sponsor Manjot Singh of NOVAFLO

BEGINNERS SQUASH & RACKETBALL AND COURTFIT

The main reason for introducing a beginners squash event in to the First City Squash Championships, is due to the ever growing beginners squash and racketball class I run every Monday evening 7.00pm - 8.00pm. Leading up to Easter our theme is getting the ball out of the back of the court.

The session is £3.00 to members and £7.50 to non-members and you can book the class via My Courts (Gym and Classes Section).

Before the beginners session, I run CourtFit, a circuit training class, 6.00pm - 7.00pm. The session is not just open to Squash & Racketball players but is open to ALL member and all levels of fitness and can fit into your own personnal training programme you currently do. The session is free to members but you still need to book the class via My Courts (Gym and Classes Section)

JUNIOR HALF TERM CAMP

Another amazing half term squash camp at Wolverhampton Lawn Tennis and Squash Club ... The kids absolutely love it, they're all having so much fun, making friends, building their confidence and burning off lots of energy improving their squash skills!

They don't know how lucky they are to have an ex-England and current Welsh national coach Michael Harris leading this, along with our other fantastic coaches Mia Shea and Leon Smith! They all have oodles of skill, patience, and warmth and the kids love them!

Big thanks to Kate Corey too who plays an integral part in the success of these camps and our junior success!

Oliver is looking forward to the Easter camp already

CHILDREN'S MENTAL HEALTH WEEK
Last week was Children’s Mental Health week with the theme ‘My voice Matters’, and here at our WOW squash Academy, (sponsored by The Platform Wombourne ) we couldn’t agree more!
So we asked the juniors at our squash camp how playing squash makes them feel with some lovely responses - HAPPY, JOYFUL PROUD, SAFE, EXCITED!

Listening to our juniors is important to us which is why some of our regular junior players contribute to ‘Junior voice’ where they share their thoughts and ideas for the squash program so they have input into what we deliver for them.

Please get in touch if you’d like your junior to join one of our joyful, exciting & safe weekly junior squash sessions to help them feel proud of their achievements
