Dear [[firstname]]
Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Roadshow
WOW what an amazing day WLTSC had last Friday 1st July, when over 150 school children from 9 schools had the opportunity to try squash, archery, cricket, wrestling, table tennis, boxing, and wheelchair basketball at the official Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Roadshow. They also got the chance to meet the VIP himself Perry the Bull, the official Commonwealth Games mascot.
The children also got to meet current and former Commonwealth Games athletes, including table tennis player; Mel Carter, double medal winning Paralympic Archer who brought along her medals and Olympic torch from London 2012 and Declan James; professional squash player and one of Team England players at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
In the afternoon, we welcomed WLTSC members to try out the sports, and we were delighted to welcome over 50 non-members to the club, I hope we can encourage them to take out a new membership.
Finally, I would like to thank all the members (volunteers) and staff who helped to make the day so special, your support is and always will be truly appreciated.

Wolverhampton Junior Open
On Saturday 2nd July, we hosted the Wolverhampton Junior Open Squash Championships. Forty children travelled from as far as Durham to take part in the various age category tournaments. Congratulations to our own, Leon Smith, who won the Boys U19 Championships and Santana Aspinall who was Runner Up in the Girls U15 event. Well done to Connor Walton, Arjun Toora, James Corey and Phearon Hall who all enjoyed the day and had the opportunity to test out their squash skills against different opponents and will help their games improve in the long term.
Wooden Racket Squash Social Evening – Bob Pickering Memorial
On Friday 22nd July 6.30pm – 8.00pm, we are holding a Wooden Racket Squash Social evening partly because it’s going to be fun but also in memory of Bob Pickering.
We have a few wooden rackets but if you have your own, please bring along. If you have an old wooden racket that is sitting in your attic, can we please borrow it for the evening?
If you don’t want to play but still want to celebrate our friend, then we invite you all down to the courts throughout the evening or meet in the bar later and raise a glass of red wine in memory of Bob.
I hope you all enjoy the sunshine this weekend.
Kindest Regards
Mike Harris
