7 Days in Sunny June

Dear [[firstname]]

Last 7 days of sunny June and do we have a treat for you..........!

Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Roadshow

Next Friday 1st July, WLTSC will be hosting an Official Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Roadshow - Time 2.00pm – 7.00pm. This exciting event is open to our members and also open to the public. There will also be a BBQ from 4.00pm.

What is Commonwealth Games Roadshow?

7 Commonwealth Games sports will be coming to WLTSC, including Wheelchair Basketball, Boxing, Wrestling, Cricket, Archery, Table Tennis and of course Squash. You will be able/encouraged to try out these sports, get advice from some of the world’s top coaches, meet some Team England athletes, including Dec James England Squash Player and VIP Perry the Bull (Birmingham 2022 Mascot)

The event will take place on Tennis Court 1 & 2, the Newbridge Court, and the grass above the Newbridge court.

Important Information – Also on Friday 1st July, between 9.00am – 1.30pm, we are also welcoming 7 schools to WLTSC, who will be trying out the sports.

We are still looking for volunteers to help on the day. Meet and Greet, Traffic Management etc. If you do have some time to spare next Friday, can you please email me or contact Helen Tottey.

There will be some disruption to the club, parking may be limited and there will be more people around the grounds. Specifically, the front car park and main entrance will not be available, therefore please park your vehicle using the exit road and behind the indoor tennis courts. We have been able to sucure an overflow car park at Linden House.

But on a positive note, WLTSC are extremely fortunate to be able to host this Roadshow and I personally hope you will tell your friends, children, grandchildren, cousins etc to come along try out the sports and celebrate the Commonwealth Games coming to the West Midlands.

- Beth Grinsell will be running a Racketball Morning Mix in 10.15am – 11.45am

- Mike Harris & Darren Lewis will be doing their part by playing members at Squash & Racketball from 6.00pm – 7.45pm, sign-up sheets are at the courts so please sign up for the time you would like to play and make your donation through MyCourts. Donations can also be made on the night.

Wolverhampton Junior Open

The club will be hosting the Wolverhampton Junior Open Squash Championships on Saturday 2nd July. We look forward to welcoming young players from across the country who will be competing in this England Squash Bronze Sanctioned Event.

Bob Pickering

In memory of Bob Pickering on Friday 22nd July 6.30pm – 8.00pm, we are holding a Wooden Racket Squash Social evening. If you don’t want to play but still want to celebrate our friend, then we invite you all down to the courts throughout the evening and raise a glass of red wine in memory of Bob.

We have a few wooden rackets but if you have your own please bring along. If you have an old wooden racket that is sitting in your attic, can we please borrow it for the evening?

PRIDE LGBTQ+ MONTH

Finally please help us celebrate today and PRIDE on Friday 24th June in support of LGBTQ+ Month, please wear bright colours throughout the day or for any session/activity.

I hope you have an amazing weekend

Kindest Regards

Mike Harris
