Padel Project Update

Dear [[firstname]]

I wanted to bring you up to date on where we are with the Padel project and announce that we will be holding a General Meeting at 19.30 on Thursday 17th October in the Studio.
I recruited a small team consisting of Graham Loader, Marc Hughes, Tony Pinson and Guy Birkett to guide our decisions in a direction most suitable for the club.
We have decided to cut back the original project and leave one grass court whilst installing 3 Padel courts where courts 7 & 8 are now.
This will reduce the overall cost of the project to around £200k plus VAT.
We have also decided to have a single contractor to take responsibility for both doing the groundworks (half the total cost) and installing the courts.
We have concluded that Pickleball is best played indoors, and we are looking at how and when we can introduce it to WLTSC.
We have also spoken with our local planning officer who is relaxed with the project as much of it is covered by a previous planning application submitted and approved in 2017.
We have 4 potential suppliers in the frame, and are evaluating their quotes.
Our Padel Pledge thermometer currently stands at £96k. Thank you to all who have committed to date, but we are still looking for more. I remind you that our proposal is to offer an interest rate return of 6% (base rate plus 1%) over a 5-year period.
We are preparing our application to the LTA but having spoken to them last week it may take up to 3 months to get through their committees before we know how much they are prepared to loan.
That is why I am proposing a General Meeting at which we can answer your outstanding questions and get your approval to proceed. As promised I will try to give you a Q & A document beforehand.
Once we know what the LTA will offer as a proportion of the project cost we will then have another General meeting at which we will vote on the financial commitments involved and the ultimate question for members to answer ‘Do we proceed with the project’?

In the meantime keep enjoying everything that your Club offers.
