It’s been another active week at the club with lots of donations raised from yesterday’s Breast Cancer Awareness day and the finals of the Dave Smart Racketball handicap finals sponsored by our Gold sponsor, Banks’s.
Thank you to our social media team of Beth and Andy for promoting the finals last night on Facebook and to Chris Dawson and Guy Birkett for leading the tournament. Jonathon Evans won the plate final and Steve Pearcey won the main final in a very long energy sapping match. We had 46 entrants with many members playing for the first time.
As the winter approaches, racketball and squash are a great way of getting fitter and you only 45mins to burn a ton of calories in a warm and friendly environment.
The Carver Cup is now open for entries, this is our annual squash handicap competition sponsored by our Gold sponsors, Carvers. This is a special year as we are also celebrating 80 years of the club being located at Newbridge Crescent and the Carver family have played a huge part in developing the squash facilities at the club. Come and have a go even if you are new to squash as the handicap system makes for a good match and you have time to practice by coming to any of our three squash and racketball mix ins. If you need a bit of individual coaching you can book a lesson with Chris Dawson on 07884 133775.
This evening is the End of Season Tennis Awards party with over 80 team players and members attending. It’s a wonderful evening of celebrating the success of the teams and especially our coaching team led by our Rackets Manager, Paul Hodgetts and the Tennis Committee.
Lastly, if you use the school park in the evening please don’t park in front of the gates to the side of the school as these must be kept clear at all times.
