Our extended summer hasn’t stopped members trying out a bit of squash and racketball. Our Tuesday and Saturday Mix Ins have been particularly busy lately. Here’s a summary of some of the activities put together by our Squash and Racketball committee:
Women’s Squash Week
We are encouraging all female squash players to get on court next week to help us promote the sport. You can also bring a female friend down to the courts to play free of any visitors’ fee but please book through reception first.
World Squash Day
On 12th October we are aiming to get lots of people playing squash so please pop this date in your diary and look out for further information in early October.
Miles Jenkins has joined our Warwickshire 1st Team to help us stay in this very competitive division of squash. Miles is a professional player and currently 140 in the world. This has been possible with financial support from our long standing squash members, Roy Cashmore and Ash Labib plus support from two of our newer members, Karl Becker and Allan Walton.
Just a reminder that we are hosting the Midlands Masters from midday on Friday 8th to midday on Sunday 10th November. I hope many of our members get involved either in the competition or as part of our team of volunteers.
Today we are having all the heaters serviced and tested. On Monday we are having the floors of courts 4,5 and 6 sanded so please take care for a while as the sawdust takes about a week to completely clear. Our groundstaff will be hoovering and cleaning the floor and walls each morning.
Keep healthy, play sport and make friends,
