Spring has spring and already the grass tennis courts have had a good initiation having been opened by our Tennis Chairman, Nigel Eastwood followed by matches from the Royal Air Force and Staffs Ladies. Please remember to wear suitable tennis shoes and cease play if they become wet or slippery.
Squash & Racketball
Attached is a review of the Squash and Racketball season with some superb successes and achievements thanks to our dedicated committee, volunteers, coaches and our Head of Squash and Racketball, Matt McFahn.
The Committee have also endorsed a request from the Royal Air Force to host their Festival of Squash during the daytime at the club next week (Wed to Friday lunchtime). Around 24 players will be receiving coaching from our team across all 6 courts however courts will be available at lunchtime and after 5pm for you. Please check MyCourts to ensure you can get a court and remember to keep booking your court even during the day. Thank you for supporting our Service men and women.
We are also promoting squash and tennis at the RAF Cosford Museum event next Tuesday between 10am and 2pm and have 8 young people every 15 mins experiencing these amazing sports.
Next week is a special week at the club where we remember the amazing contribution made to the club by Pete Brown “Brownie”. On Saturday 20th May we have a tennis/squash and fitness charity day in memory of Brownie, our fantastic Head of Tennis and Squash at the club for over 25 years. This is our 3rd PB Charity day and they are always an awesome event helping raise funds for Parkinson's and Newbridge House. More details of how to get involved in specific sessions will be released over the next few days but the main event is always the Tennis Mix In and BBQ from 2pm until 4pm.
Nige Mynott is also organising a Brownie training session; meeting at the club after Boxercise at 7pm next Wednesday 17th May for a gentle jog around some familiar routes, returning to the club by 8pm followed by refreshments in the bar.
