The Squash and Racketball winter season draws to a close on Saturday 24 March with the finals of the Squash Championships sponsored by First City.
Finals will be on court from 5 pm.
As we receive details of who’s playing in semi finals and the dates and times we’ll promote these on Facebook; so if you’re not currently signed up to the club's page, now’s a good time to do this. You can also access these on MyCourts as usual in the tournament area.
Following the conclusion of the finals we will then be adjourning upstairs for a two course meal, presentation of the trophies, a review of the highlights of the season and presentation of several further awards including "The Junior of the Year award", The “Spotted with a Blue Ball“ award, The "Markers Nightmare" award (Steve Pearcey is currently the odds-on favourite!!) and The "Most Improved Player award".
Additionally the club gives out a Player of the Year trophy to recognise a player who has given exceptionally of themselves either on court or in support of the development of Squash and Racketball at the club or both. The shortlisted nominees agreed by the committee for this year for that award are ;
• Robin Chipperfield
• Huw Humphreys
• Helen Tottey
· Antony Bagshaw
The winner will be announced at the presentations on 24 March.
Please come and support the finals and the awards presentations afterwards. The cost for the evening is £7, this includes food, please let reception know if you have any particular dietary requirements.
Can you also book at reception before the finals night so that we can coordinate food to ensure we have sufficient for all.
We are intending to sit down, eat and celebrate all things Squash and Racketball at the club from 7:30 pm onwards.
Lastly, please help us keep the courts in good condition by checking your footwear is clean and non marking and if you use the spare rackets can you return them in good condition.
Looking forward to seeing you all on 24th March
