Club News

The Easter weekend is fast approaching and we can see that the club is a popular place to be for those of you that aren’t going on holiday. All the Energize classes continue as normal and the rackets programme just has one or two changes. Reception is open from 10 to 4pm on Good Friday and is closing at 4pm on Easter Monday. Squash & Racketball The Squash End of Season Awards went extremely well last week with Aleks Stojanovic winning the Player of the Year award. Thank you to the Squash Committee and especially the Squash Chairman, Guy Birkett for organising the night. There are only a few more days for you to register onto the Dave Smart Racketball competition; it’s suitable for all abilities and is an FA Cup style draw for each round with no seeds or handicaps. You can register online via the MyCourts Tournaments tab or just click here http://wltsc.mycourts.co.uk/tournaments.asp Tennis Congratulations to all of the finalists at this year’s Vets Tennis Champs which were once again immaculately organised by Paul Hodgetts and the Tennis Committee. Thank you also to all the members that took the time to provide cakes and that came to support some memorable matches. Easter Sunday sees the start of our annual Grade 3 Tennis Tournament which once again is being organised by our Tournament Coach, Nick Morris. He has gathered a record entry of over 300 players including many from our club. Most of the courts will be in use from 9 to 6pm all week so please liaise with Nick if you need a court and he will do his best to accommodate you. There will be many visitors so please guide them if they look lost and point them in the direction of the bar and restaurant in between their matches. Team Tennis – the B Team gained a creditable draw last night in their first match against Streetly, the support we get often makes the difference so thank you to those that came last night. Sid Hodgetts’ team are playing tonight on the indoor courts. It would be appreciated if all regular team players can pay their season’s match fee of £25 at reception as soon as possible We still have a limited number of Wimbledon tickets available for Saturday 5th July for number one court priced at £66 per pair. If you are interested in any of these tickets please contact a member of the reception team today on 01902 755265. Indoor Tennis Courts – just a reminder that you must pre book your indoor court before playing using your online MyCourts account, credit can be added by purchasing vouchers from the bar or reception or online via PayPal (PayPal take 5% of transactions). Court hire costs will remain at the same low levels throughout the year at £4 per hour off peak and £8 at peak times (Mon to Thursday evening). Fitness We will be commencing work to convert squash Court 1 into a Functional Training Gym in the next few weeks, if there are any specialist pieces of equipment that you would like in there then please let Paul Fothergill know. Social Please be aware that one of our members is having a private party in the function room this Friday. Louise Scott has joined the Social Committee and will be focussing on mid week entertainment in the bar and lounge. If you have any ideas on suitable events then please get in touch with Louise. Lastly, We are having a few problems with the ladies showers which we are investigating at the moment, some work well and others less well, thank you for your patience whilst we resolve the problem.
